Diet and natural treatments for Arthritis

 Diet against Arthritis

Summary: Life experience and clinical trials show that arthritis can be reversed with a plant based diet including good fatty acids, fermented foods and  appropriate supplements .  The reversing process may be accelerated by 1-2 week fasting. During the process pain can be relieved naturally by anti-inflammatory supplements and discontinuation of certain foods such as sugar, milk, refined vegetable oil, wheat flour, processed foods and animal based foods. .

Arthritis in brief

Arthritis usually causes swelling, pain, stiffness, and limits mobility. These symptoms may come and go. They may be mild, moderate or severe. They may be the same for years but may become worse. Severe arthritis may lead to chronic pain, inability to carry out daily activities and make it difficult to walk  or climb stairs. (Arthritis Foundation)

Arthritis may also cause permanent joint changes or distortion (see figure).

There are hundreds of different types of arthritis.  The most common types are:

    • Degenerative arthritis (osteoarthritis) happens when bone cartilage is worn out or degenerated probably due to impaired calcium metabolism. This type of arthritis is usually seen in older people.
    • Inflammatory Arthritis occurs when the immune system attacks the joints which are mistakenly  perceived as harbouring pathogens. Uncontrolled inflammation results in pain, swelling and possible erosion of joints. It may cause damage to the eyes and other organs of the body. Inflammatory arthritis if not treated early is likely to cause permanent joint damages.
    • Infectious arthritis is a condition where the joints are infected with bacteria, virus or fungus. The reaction of the immune system to the infection causes inflammation and pain in the joints. Timely treatment with antibiotics usually clear the infection, but sometimes the arthritis becomes chronic.
    • Metabolic arthritis, commonly called gout, occurs when the body fails to remove uric acid, a byproduct of the metabolism of purine, a substance normally found in body cells and food. High concentration of uric acid will form needle-like crystals around the joints and causes pain.

  • Effective Diet against arthritis :

As each type of arthritis has different root causes, treatment is not the same for every type of arthritis nor for every one with similar arthritis symptoms. While addressing the root cause, relieving pain is also essential albeit temporary.

    A. Addressing the root cause

Arthritis symptoms are some of the many adverse effects of unhealthy diet. It is a fact that what we eat affects the health of our gut - digestive tract-  and our immune system. Arthritis symptoms may be associated with  autoimmune (Campbell, 2014) or inflammatory bowel diseases (Mielands, Veys, Cuvelier & De Vos, 1996), or leaky gut or increased intestinal premeability (Jacob, 2013; Campbell, 2014). Arthritis symptoms may also be associated with degenerative conditions, where the body's calcium absorption is impaired due to deficiency of  required vitamins and minerals (Nutriceuticals World, 2013).

Clinical trials show that each measure is effective for the majority of patients who participate in the trial but not for all. For example, fasting will not work for people with arthritis due to infection, or from bone degeneration.

  1. Fasting : (If fasting is not appropriate, switch to vegetables - the next item.) Fasting reduces the leakage of intestinal membranes, so fasting for 2 weeks helps improve joint arthritis condition. The results of many clinical trials (Beri, Malaviya, Shandilya & Singh, 1988; Longo, VD & Mattson, 2014; Sandqvist et al., 1999). Please review the fasting, including Diana after her arthritis after 11 days of fasting and drinking only vegetables ( Diana's Diary )
  2. After fasting (or not necessarily fasting), only vegetables and vegan foods should be eaten as the plant-based anti-inflammatory, alkaline environment for the body. Clinical studies have shown that diets made with fruits and vegetables improve microbial nutrition in the gastrointestinal tract, decrease intestinal perforation (Peltonen R. et al., 1997) and repel arthritis symptoms (Kjeldsen-Kragh , 1999).
  3. Eat a good amount of greasy oils such as coconut oil, flax seed oil, olive oil, walnut oil, avocado oil ( Arthritis Foundation 1 ). Coconut oil is a good fat that can help heal leakage of the intestinal lining, which can reduce arthritis ( Ratheesh et al., 2017, Paul Fassa, 2017). ) and  Candida fungal control (Kearney et al., 2015). When the yeast registers the body, the body has many symptoms, including arthritis (Muedin, 2013). Coconut oil also has an effect on autoimmune disease including arthritis (Myers, 2015).
  4. Take 2 Black Cumin Seed oil 500mg capsules twice a day. See Benefits of ingesting Black Cumin seed oil daily.
  5. Eat plenty of fermented foods such as kimchi, pickled cucumber, coconut yogurt, cocoa, natto, milk yogurt (if you have osteoarthritis, infection or gout) or Drink supplemental probiotics to enhance health and intestinal immune system. (Helme, J., 2015).
  6. Increases the body's ability to absorb calcium by using mineral supplements such as boron, magnesium, vitamin K and vitamin D (Christakos, 2011). Osteoarthritis due to bone degeneration is associated with a decrease in the body's ability to absorb calcium, not because of inadequate calcium intake. The body needs enough boron (Walter Last) magnesium, Vitamin K, vitamin D to absorb calcium fully (Nutriceuticals world, 2013). Lack of these substances, how much milk to drink and how much calcium to supplement, bone is diluted and arthritis worse. We can buy a full complement of these minerals to increase calcium absorption and eliminate degenerative arthritis such as NZ Clinicians Bone Care Complete, or Bone Strength, Bone-Up, Bone Solid at iherb.com.

B. How to relieve aches and pains : Please note that none of these methods also work for everyone with arthritis. Arthritis is often associated with food allergy and metabolic status of the body. You can select but you can try each one several ways because all if there is no effect is also not harmful.

  1. Stop consuming the following foods and beverages :
  • Stop using cow's milk and cow's milk (if your body reacts to cow's milk). Many clinical studies have shown that many (but not all) re-use of cattle and dairy cows and animals after fasting have painful arthritis (Kjeldsen-Kragh, 1999). However, eat yogurt live yogurt (yogurt can be used to thin new yogurt) to help kill harmful microorganisms in the intestines to leak the intestinal leakage. (Dr Ax, 2017) Can replace cow's milk with almonds, rice, coconut cream.
  • Stop or reduce the intake of meat because of the endotoxin contained in the meat secreted by meat (when the meat is alive) and the fat saturated in the meat increases the amount of toxin transferred to the blood. The result is increased inflammation in people (Greger, 2012). Eating more meat will help the toxin grow and grow in the digestive tract, increasing levels of endotoxin causing many diseases, including arthritis (Minich D., 2017).
  • Stop or minimize foods like purine water, scallops, anchovies, mackerel, meat, especially deer, bacon, beef, deer, liver, beef, chicken, duck, pork ... The more foods that contain purine, the higher the level of uric acid in the body, causing pain in the gut (Roubenoff, nd)
  • Stop using refined vegetable oils such as canola oil, soybean oil, corn oil, sunflower oil (Kris Gunnars (2013).) Because these oils contain more omega-6s than omega-3s. should cause inflammation and intestinal damage ( arthritis Foundation 5 ; Hyman, 2015). Eat more animal fats, including cream cow's milk (full cream dairy products) can also cause arthritis ( arthritis Foundation 3 ).
  • Stop eating processed foods , especially chips, because processed foods often contain high levels of trans fats that cause inflammation and trigger arthritis. Arthritis Foundation 4 )
  • Stop eating sugar ( Arthritis Foundation ) and the food root starch(refined carbohydrates) like white bread, white rice, potato starch white because these substances cause inflammation and chronic pain ( Arthritis Foundation, 6 ; Franziska Spritzler, 2017).
  • Stop eating MSG, which means avoiding all processed foods in Asia as it activates inflammation and chronic pain ( Arthritis Foundation 7 ).
  • Stop eating wheat, barley and rye foods because they contain gluten, which is a common cause of gastrointestinal leaking and autoimmune diseases including rheumatoid arthritis. , 2015; Punder & Pruimboom, 2013).
  1. Eating  40 grams of raw sesame seeds (divided into several times) will relieve many arthritis pain according to the results of a clinical study at Tabriz University of Iran in 2013 with 50 participants (Sayer Ji, 2013).
  2. High auxiliary turmeric (Turmeric supplement). The combined clinical trials of Daily, Yang and Park (2016) confirmed the use of turmeric extract to alleviate arthritis pain. The minimum dose for analgesic effect is 1000mg high, equivalent to about 30g dry turmeric. The high tech auxiliaries require black pepper to help the body absorb the turmeric.
  3. Bromelain support . Bromelain is a group of enzymes from pineapples that have anti-inflammatory and infectious effects that have helped many patients with significant arthritic analgesia (Pavan et al., 2012). You can take 2000 mg 3 times a day between 2 meals. (Arthritis Foundation 8) .
  4. Fish oil. Clinical trials have shown that fish oil helps many people reduce joint pain and help them move more easily. Use 2.6 gm twice a day with Nordic fish oil containing at least 30 percent EPA / DHA ( Arthritis Foundation 9 ).
  6. Auxiliaries include proteolytic enzymes. When the body is injured, the body takes the protein fibrin there to form a protective net for the platelets and red blood cells to complete the healing work there. After healing, the body sends the enzyme to destroy the protein to clear the fibrin and restore the previous state. When the body does not have enough enzymes to destroy fibrin, fibrin accumulates into hard scarring, hindering blood vessels, disrupting muscle activity and causing chronic inflammation. The decrease in proteinuria in the body after age 25 is one of the causes that can cause arthritis (Cannone, 2011). Nitrogen-degrading enzymes such as bromelain, rutin, and papain have analgesic effects such as painkillers but have the advantage over cartilage protection (Bolten et al., 2015; Nouza, 1994). You can buy superoxide anionic supplements sold on the internet such as

"Doctor's Best, Proteolytic Enzymes, 90 Enteric Coated Veggie Caps" for $ US20 on iherb.com (Iherb.com is relatively different from other stores, measured in local buyer dollars and, postage). This supplement contains bromelain, papain, amylase, rutin, lipase, neutral protease, bacterial protease, fungal protease and serratiopeptidase.

Of the 10 users, 8 people found this additive excellent. Of course, this kind of supplement may not work for people with osteoarthritis.

  1. Ginger extract is tested to reduce arthritis pain less steroid. The recommended dose is 3 grams of dried ginger twice a day ( Arthritis Foundation 10 )
  2. Flax seed oil, which contains a lot of omega 3, has an effective anti-inflammatory effect and is recognized as an analgesic effect for many people with arthritis. ( Arthritis Foundation 11 )
  3. Chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine have analgesic effect on some people with osteoarthritis but not much effect on the average ( Arthritis Foundation 12 ).
  4. MSM Methylsulfonylmethane is a natural sulfur compound in fruits, vegetables and animals. MSM works to relieve pain and inflammation for all 50 participants1 in clinical trials. Dosage: 1 g to 3 g daily. ( Arthritis Foundation 13 )

A synthetic supplement called Flexitrinol contains vitamin C, flax seed oil, fish oil, vitamin E, boron, Eneming Primrose Oil, chondroitin sulfate, MSM, and Glucosamine are considered to be the most effective analgesic . (Richard, dietsinreview 2016)

C. Slapping and Stretching to treat arthritis

Slap on knees, feet and the back of your hands (where joint pains are) at least 10 minutes at each area or until the pain is relieved.
See Paida and Lajin Self Healing at https://www.healthmantra.com/paida-lajin/Paida-Lajin-Self-Healing.pdf

Rheumatoid Arthritis is disorders of almost all bodily systems including the immune, nervous, and digestive systems. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, they are simply meridian blockages. Like in all cases, unblocking the meridians leads to healing—but it will take longer.
There can be visible improvements after one month. Many patients stop medication after practicing PaidaLajin and experience continual improvements.
1. Stretch on a Lajin bench.

2. Slap the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet.)
3. Follow with the entire head, all four limbs, and all joints and regions of the body.
 4. Include the chest, back, belly, groin, armpits, and buttocks.
5. During the process of PaidaLajin for chronic diseases, it is best to fast for three to four days.
6. People with weak qi and blood supply can also try fasting.
7. Drink some ginger and jujube tea to replenish qi and blood flow in the meantime.
